Streaming giant Spotify said Tuesday it would launch a new \u201cAI Persona\u201d badge in mid-September clearly identifying content producers that are AI-generated and not real people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cListeners have been clear in telling us that they don\u2019t like seeing an artist profile that seems human, only to find out that the persona is AI-generated,\u201d Spotify said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move is the Swedish company\u2019s latest effort to be transparent about how the music on its platform was made, amid growing concern across the music industry over AI-generated content overwhelming streaming catalogues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In April, the company launched its \u201cVerified by Spotify\u201d badge, signalling that a profile has been reviewed and meets its authenticity standard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAlongside artist profiles that self-disclose as AI Personas, we will also start applying badges to relevant profiles,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
