Directed by Manuel Hernández, the film is based on the real-life testimony of Yanet Pájaro—a survivor of child sexual abuse, activist, and executive producer of the project alongside journalist Desirée Colomina. More than a film, it is a declaration: every ten minutes, a child is abused somewhere in the world.

During the screening, a timer on the screen marked that interval in real time, creating a visceral effect. This documentary does not aim to entertain, but to raise awareness, stir the audience, and inspire them to become active agents in the fight against child abuse. Yanet’s story calls on the healing and transformative power of truth.

The post-screening forum offered an intimate and impactful space for dialogue. Moderated by Desirée Colomina, it brought together experts such as Dr. Patricia Guiribitey, psychologist Jainewel Romero, therapist Logan María Sosa, and community leader Lori Toledo. They discussed the long-term psychological effects of abuse, warning signs, and the importance of speaking openly and responsibly with children and adolescents.

One of the most symbolic moments of the night came during a voiceover featuring a young girl and boy inviting the audience to turn on their lights as a pledge to become agents of change for a safer and more responsible childhood. Each light represented a personal commitment: to never look the other way again.

The event also featured the participation of prominent figures such as Cristian Ceballos, Miami-Dade mayoral candidate, who reaffirmed his intention to promote prevention and education policies. Influencer La Mamilover shared the real story of a young survivor who, thanks to the event, connected with the Emprendedores de Luz Foundation. Flautist Huáscar Barradas performed several emotional pieces, closing the evening with a moving rendition of “Qué bonita es esta vida.”

The response was immediate. Organizations like The Trauma Relationship Center, along with representatives from the education, medical, and arts communities, announced the formation of a coalition of allies. Their goal: to bring the documentary to schools, faith communities, and cultural centers—accompanied by workshops, educational materials, and a digital awareness campaign.

Recently submitted for the Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards in the “Societal Concerns – Short Format” category, “Broken Wings: Every 10 Minutes” is emerging as a transformative tool that transcends the screen. Its impact is already setting in motion new paths of action, healing, and collective commitment.

Press Contact:
info@backtimegroup.com / siriuscomunicaciones@gmail.com

Miami, FL – June 23, 2025 – The documentary “Broken Wings: Every 10 Minutes” had an emotional and powerful premiere at the Miami Dade College West Campus auditorium, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
